He was born on February 18, 1959 in the village of Kornalovychi, Sambir district, Lviv region. There he studied in secondary school, which he graduated in 1976. After receiving a certificate of maturity, he entered the Sambir Pedagogical School and after studying one course, he was called up to serve in the ranks of the Soviet army.
From 1977 to 1979 he served in the army. After leaving the army, he continued his studies at a teacher training school, which he successfully graduated a year later.
From 1980 to 1985, he studied at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute named after Gorky in the specialty “teacher-researcher in pedagogy and psychology”.
After completing his studies in 1985, he was hired at the Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute named after V. Stefanyk to the position of assistant of the department of pedagogy and methods of primary education, and in 1986 he was transferred to the department of psychology of the same institute.
In the period from 1988 to 1991, he was a graduate student of the Research Institute of Psychology named after H.S. Kostyuk, during which he prepared a dissertation on the topic “A task-based approach to the formation of psychological readiness of pedagogic students for the teaching profession”, which he successfully defended there in 1991.
From 1992 to 1995, he served as the head of the Department of General Psychology of the Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanyk, and since 1995 until 1998 he was an associate professor of the same department.
During 1998-2001, he was in doctoral studies, and in 2002 he began to perform the duties of an associate professor of the department of general and experimental psychology.
In the period 2005-2009, he headed the Department of Psychology of the Pedagogical Institute of the Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanyka.
From 2009 to 2014, he was an associate professor of the department of general and experimental (clinical) psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy, and from 20014 he was elected to the position of professor of the department of general and clinical psychology.
